Bucks New University launches Foundation Degree in Kitchen Design standard

Buckinghamshire New University is looking forward to accepting the first cohort of students on to its Foundation Degree in Kitchen Design. The qualification has attracted widespread industry support and its first intake of students will start with a residential study weekend at the University's Missenden Abbey Conference Centre in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, from 19-21 September. Developed in response to the need for more training in the area of kitchen design, the industry-led Foundation Degree aims to increase the skills and knowledge of those working in the sector, as well as recognising the professionalism of those holding a formal qualification. The BMA’s European Water Label wins a major award for its commitment to education standard

In recognition of its campaign to help both industry professionals and consumers reduce their water and energy consumption the Bathroom Manufacturers Association, which administers The Water Label Company, has won a major award in the Environment Agency and Waterwise Water Efficiency Awards 2014, given in the Campaigns & Education category.  The awards celebrate the achievements of public, private and third sector organisations that ‘Shout’ about water efficiency, ‘Solve’ water demand management challenges and simply ‘Save’ water. The European Water Label, which was developed by the BMA and is entirely voluntary, can now be seen on bathroom and kitchen products across 28 European countries, plus Russia, Switzerland, Turkey and Israel. KBB National Training Group Appoints New Chairman standard

The KBB NTG is delighted to announce the appointment of Ray Isted as Chairman.  He succeeds Brian Evans of Mark David Enterprises Ltd, who held the position for two years. Ray brings a wealth of experience to the NTG board.  Having worked within the KBB industry for a number of years in his roles as Head of Training and Group Brand Marketing Manager at Whirlpool  UK.  Ray has first-hand knowledge of both the strategic and commercial aspects of a wide range of industry topics with particular emphasis on the development  of training and educational opportunities, brand management and marketing. Industry Leaders Meet in Support of Foundation Degree Course standard

A very positive meeting of Industry Leaders was recently hosted by Blum UK in support of the Foundation Degree Course for Kitchen Design. This allowed an opportunity for  Professor Alison Shreeve, Head of School Design Craft and Visual Arts Faculty of Design to present the innovative course in detail.  Both the NTG and Bucks New University are urging industry to get behind this course in promoting it to their staff and colleagues, as well as adding support by way of bursaries.  So far Hettich UK and Miele have put forward bursaries, both of whom have been part of the course development team from the start.  They have lead the way for others to follow!
